Meet Dr. Ted Heinz
Improving Oral Health Improves Lives
My entire professional career has been as a private practice dentist. I enjoy helping people and building real relationships in the process. My top priority, with each patient, is to help them improve their dental health and develop a healthier, happier life as a result.
Many people don’t realize the affect one’s oral health has on one’s body, or vice versa. By teaching patients about those connections, and encouraging them to make positive changes, I help each lead a better, fuller, happier life. Dentistry is more than fixing teeth and changing smiles: it’s about caring for the whole person.
Many of my patients have been with me since I started practicing in 1983. That’s allowed me to form a bond that goes beyond doctor and patient: they are truly my friends. This is what I strive to achieve with my new patients, as well. I do my best to learn who the person is, beyond their dental concerns, and I want them to get to know me, too!
My Team and Our Practice
My team members: Linn and Marianne the hygienists, Leah my dental assistant, and Eileen our office manager, are the backbone of the practice. They are devoted to our patients’ happiness and make sure everyone knows how much we appreciate them.
Together, we’re able to provide truly individualized care, tailored to each person’s concerns, with a focus on comfort. I find a lot of joy listening to my team talking and laughing with patients, developing friendships that extend beyond the office.
Education and Continuing Education
- Bachelor of Science in Biology, Loyola University, Chicago
- Doctorate of Dental Surgery, Loyola University, Chicago
Each year I seek out a variety of continuing education (CE) courses. Advancements in dental techniques and technology are happening at a rapid pace and these changes have a marked impact on the care we provide patients. Through CE, I’m able to stay current on developments, evaluating each and deciding which are the best fit for my patients.
I take courses through the American Dental Association and the Illinois State Dental Society. I attend seminars and lectures and have completed numerous online CE courses, too.
Beyond the Practice
I was born and raised here in Morton Grove, attending St. Martha Catholic School as a child and Niles West High School as a teen. This area has been home to my family for generations and I’m fortunate and grateful to be part of this community in my professional and personal life.
I now live in Des Plaines, where my wife and I bought our first home in 1983. We have five children (three daughters and two sons), two son-in-laws, and five grandkids.
If I’m not at the office, you’ll find me spending a lot of time with my grandkids. I also love being out on the golf course, providing the weather cooperates. I enjoy volunteering with the Morton Grove Moose Lodge and was a longtime member of the Morton Grove Lion’s Club. Of course, working on my ’69 Grand Prix takes up a lot of my free time!
